I’ve decided to challenge myself to read at least 1 book a month in 2022.

The Challenge

I love reading books but have not been finding the time to do so for the past year. So for 2022, I have decided to challenge myself to read one non-fiction book a month. Turning it to a challenge gives me the drive to make time to consume the book – I’m competitive that way! LOL

But I also didn’t want to set myself up to fail, so I figured one book a month is attainable.

The Books

I’ve chosen 12 books according to what my interests and goals are for this year.

There are several finance books about ETF investing and retirement planning on my list because I plan on beefing up our retirement funds through ETF investing under the TFSA umbrella. I also want to share my financial knowledge with my kids – so I’m reading up on how to do that as well.

There are also some personal development books on my list because I always strive to improve myself constantly. Learning from authors’ experiences is suitable for me because I am a visual learner – I learn best by examining examples.

I have a laminated copy of the image above on my bedside table to constantly remind me of this challenge. If you would like to make your own list, below is a blank template for you. Or if you want it on your phone, screenshot the template on my stories on Facebook or Instagram. I’ll leave it on a highlight for you.

The Frugal Catch

Now to turn this challenge up a notch, I included a rule that I cannot buy the books I read. I would have to either borrow from the library or from friends.

The Libby App comes in handy for this! I have this app on all of my devices. Use your local library card to digitally borrow books and audiobooks from the library straight to your device. Pretty neat huh?!

I have a hold on most of the books I’ve tagged to read.

Challenge Yourself

I invite you to take this challenge with me. I think it will be a fun way to learn more about any topic you are interested in.
