Shop your stash.

Make an inventory of what you have in the pantry, fridge, and freezer.

I have a running list for this on my phone notes. I just delete whatever we’ve used up and add items that we’ve purchased for stock.

Plan ahead.

Create a meal planWhen you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Your plan doesn’t have to be fancy or date specific.

Every Thursday, I just write down 6 lunches for me and Marc and 6 breakfasts and lunches for the kids. My mom (Did I mention my parents live with us?) is tasked to write down 7 dinners.

The key to saving money is making sure that the meals you plan uses up items that is currently in your inventory.

There are several apps that you can use to meal plan based on your current inventory of ingredients. I like Supercook, because it works on both desktop and mobile.

Online shopping saves both time and money.

Once you have your meals planned and you know what ingredients you need to purchase, then grocery shopping is quick and easy

I don’t even bother writing down a grocery list. Using a mobile grocery app, I just add items to my cart right away.

Major grocery stores have their own app that you can download or shop online on your laptop. Do your grocery shop online, then chose the day and time for pick up or deliveryEasy peasy!

Another way to save money is by looking at the “deals” section of the app. You can circle back by adding the items on a deal into the Supercook website when meal planning.

I love the convenience of online grocery shopping – I get to save money by making sure to checkout the deals, and at the same time, not have any impulse buys because I never step foot inside the store.

Pick up is so convenient when I have the kids with me in the car. I don’t have to unload and load them back up in the car seat. A grocery employee brings and loads the groceries to my car.

I haven’t tried delivery yet, but I’m sure it’ll be amazing to open your front door and your groceries are waiting to come in.
